Norton Financial Acquires C. Baker & Associates
Financial services company solidifies its position as a leading provider of employee benefit plans.
Cumberland, ME – August 10, 2011 – Norton Financial, the employee benefits division of Norton Insurance • Financial, announced today that the company has acquired C. Baker & Associates of Yarmouth, ME. Established in 2005, C. Baker Associates provides group benefit plans to Maine-based employers, including group health plans, defined contribution retirement plans, disability insurance and other voluntary employee benefit programs. With the acquisition by Norton Financial, C. Baker will consolidate its operations at Norton Insurance • Financial’s Cumberland, ME headquarters. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Norton Financial has used the changes in impending healthcare reform and the slowdown in the economy to strengthen its position as a leading provider of employee benefit plans. Earlier this year, Norton Financial announced that Nancy Doble, formerly of Penobscot Pension Services, had joined the company to lead Norton’s newly formed Third Party Administrator (TPA) services division for employer sponsored defined contribution plans.
